An effort to launch a new foster parent organization got off to a quick start on June 18, 2005 when about 70 Maryland foster parents and staff met to discuss the needs and potential supports for children in out-of-home placements.

The Foster Parent Summit held at the Maryland Department of Transportation headquarters near BWI Airport brought together foster parents who are dedicated to forming an organization to give them a strong, cohesive voice in affairs affecting the children they serve.
